‘Tis pity love should be so contrary’

Shakespeare’s first play is also his most wildly passionate, an exuberant comedy of love charting the twists and turns of the faithful and the fickle as the city’s entanglements untangle in the forest.

Four young lovers on their gap-year chase each other across Italy, confused by their own adolescent desires, cross-dressing disguises, a band of singing outlaws and a roguish clown with a scamp of a dog.

This joyous comedy about what it feels like to be young is bursting with joy, love and sun-kissed madness.
