British Theatre Guide
Established in 2010, Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is one of the country’s best-loved open air theatres and regularly plays to sold out audiences across the summer. The sounds of popping corks, picnics unpacked and happy audiences is the defining sound of Chester’s summer.
Grosvenor Park Open Air Theatre is produced by Storyhouse, Chester’s award-winning cultural centre which opened in May 2017.
Storyhouse is creating a new model for a modern cultural organisation. It is the first arts organisation to run a city library. A city theatre, library, cinema and Levantine restaurant, it produces work for its own stage half of the year and welcomes touring shows for the other half. It is already one of the city’s principal visitor attractions and welcomes 3,000 visitors a day.
